Early life and Career
Aneta Corsaut was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Jesse Harrison and Opal J. (née Swarens) Corsaut. She pursued acting with Lee Strasberg at Northwestern University and specialized in drama. Aneta Corsaut dropped out of school in her sophomore year to start a career in acting, though she continued to take classes at UCLA for the duration of The Andy Griffith Show.
In the mid-1950s, Aneta Corsaut started her career as an actress in New York City. In the indie classic horror movie The Blob, Corsaut and Steve McQueen made their cinematic debuts in 1958. She played Irma Howell in the CBS comedy Mrs G. Goes to College from 1961 to 1962.
In 1963, Aneta Corsaut made her debut appearance on the long-running Griffith show as instructor Helen Crump, who would eventually become the Mayberry sheriff’s wife in the first episode of the sequel Mayberry R.F.D. She also appeared in the episode “Paid in Full” on the syndicated Cowboy adventure series Death Valley Days in 1965 as Kathy McLennan, the beautiful widow of a landowner.
On the 1975–1976 television series The Blue Knight, Corsaut played the jewellery shopkeeper friend of police officer Bumper Morgan. Officer Pete Malloy’s girlfriend Judy was played by Corsaut in the sitcom Adam-12. She also had a supporting role in the 1980s sitcom House Calls as Head Nurse Bradley, and she featured throughout many episodes of Matlock with Andy Griffith.
In 1977, when long-time actress Emily McLaughlin was unable to perform, Aneta Corsaut took over as nurse Jesse Brewer on the long-running ABC drama series General Hospital.
In the commemorative series Return to Mayberry RFD in 1986 and The Andy Griffith Show Reunion in 1993, she reprised her role as Helen Crump.

Corsaut died of cancer on November 6, 1995, in Los Angeles, California. She was buried at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in adjacent North Hollywood, where she was a devout Catholic.
