Elizabeth Berkley Lauren is an American actress. She is also the wife of an American actor and fashion designer, Grey Lauren. Berkeley Lauren has acted in several movies and TV shows. She is known for the role she played in character Jessie Spano in the television series Saved by the Bell and in Paul Verhoeven movie Showgirls as Nomi Malone. Elizabeth Berkley also voiced the title role in the English dub of the anime film Armitage III: Poly-Matrix. Early Life

Elizabeth Berkley Lauren was born in Farmington, USA, on July 28 1972. She was born and raised in a Jewish family in Farmington Hills, Detroit’s northern suburbs in affluent Oakland County, Michigan.  Berkley Lauren was born with a medical condition called sectoral heterochromia. A condition in which the two eyes have different colours. In Elizabeth Berkley’s case, her left eye is green while her right eye is partially green and brown.

Family 

Berkeley Lauren is the daughter of Jere and Fred Berkley. Her mother, Jere, is a gift basket business owner, while her father, Fred Berkley, is a lawyer. Berkley Lauren has a sibling, an older brother, Jason.

Education 

 Berkley Lauren first attended the Cranbrook Kingswood School, a private school in Bloomfield Hills. She later attended the North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills and graduated in 1990.

Berkley Lauren loves to dance When she was very young, she used to dance and practice in the basement of her home. Berkley Lauren later travelled to New York City to train with dancers and choreographers. She played in several ballets, including Swan Lake, she also appeared in some musicals in 1983.

Berkley Lauren was a teenage model for Elite before pursuing an acting career. In 1978, She made her first television debut in the television film Frog.  Berkley Lauren’s performance was outstanding; she made several guest appearances on various movies and TV shows. In 1989, Berkley Lauren auditioned for Kelly Kapwoski in the Saved by the Bell movie, but the producers could not cast Berkley Tiffani Thiessen. In the end, the producers cast Berkley for the role of the character Jessie Spano; she played the role from 1989 to 1993.

After leaving Saved by the Bell movie to pursue a film career, Elizabeth Berkley played the role of Nomi Malone, a stripper who dreamed of becoming a top las-vegas showgirl. She was the lead character in the controversial Paul Verhoeven movie Showgirls (1995). Berkeley Lauren’s performance in the Showgirl movie was subjected to harsh criticism.  

The Showgirls movie has achieved rank 36 on the Entertainment Weekly list of the Top 50 Cult Movies. Berkley was cast in the anime film Armitage III: Poly Matrix and also in the comedy The First Wives Club. In November 2020, Berkely re-played the role of Jessie Spano in the Saved by the Bell regular series. She is currently starring as Jessie Spano in Saved by the Bell.

In 2010, Elizabeth Berkley set a self-help program online for teen girls called Ask-Elizabeth. The website was created when Berkley commented on the number of girls that come to his wife for advice. The show featured Berkley Lauren travelling around the United States, looking at the issues and topics most important to teenagers. Berkeley Lauren regularly meets with the teenagers to discuss different issues and help them with any problems they face.

In 2011, Berkley Lauren published Ask-Elizabeth, a self-help book for teenage girls, drawing from the workshops she conducted for the Ask-Elizabeth program.

The Law Suit    

In 2000, Berkley Lauren was involved in a $45 million lawsuit when actor and screenwriter Roger Wilson filed against Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio was claimed to have pursued Berkley whilst she was in a relationship with Wilson. Wilson claimed that DiCaprio had encouraged his friends to assault him in a street fight, related to invitations to socialise directed at Berkley.
