Maureen Reillette “Rebbie” Jackson-Brown is an American singer from Gary, Indiana. She is the eldest of the Jackson musical family’s children. She made her stage debut alongside her siblings at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1974, before going on to star in the television series The Jacksons. La Toya, her younger sister, was conceived on her sixth birthday.

Centipede, Jackson’s debut album, was released at the age of 34. (1984). Smokey Robinson, Prince, and Michael Jackson, Rebbie’s younger brother, all contributed songs to the album, with the latter’s title track, “Centipede,” becoming the album’s most popular single. On May 29, 1950, Rebbie Jackson was born into a working-class family at St Mary’s Mercy Hospital in Gary, Indiana. She is the eldest of ten children born to Joseph Walter “Joe” (July 26, 1928 – June 27, 2018) and Katherine Esther (née Scruse, May 4, 1930). Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Brandon (D. March 12, 1957), Michael Jackson (D. June 25, 2009), Randy, and Janet are her brothers and sisters. Joseph worked in a steel plant and, with his brother Luther, played in an R&B band called the Falcons. Katherine, his wife, is a Jehovah’s Witness, instilled faith in her children. As the years went on, Rebbie, La Toya, and Michael became the most religious of the children.

Rebbie admitted in a 1980s magazine interview that she was a “second mother” to her brothers and sisters, whom she would regularly look after the kids, along with her eldest brother Jackie. In 1968, she received her high school diploma from Gary’s Theodore Roosevelt High School.

In 1974, Rebbie Jackson launched her singing career in Las Vegas alongside her siblings. Rebbie’s debut was postponed until June because of a sprained ankle. Her five brothers were the major attractions, with Rebbie, Randy, Janet, and La Toya filling in as replacements.

After leaving Motown in 1976, the Jackson 5 teamed with CBS Records and renamed themselves The Jacksons.

In addition, the Jacksons were cast in a CBS-TV variety show called The Jacksons, in which they will star alongside their family.
