Sherri Saum is an American actress best known for her character, Lena Adams Foster, in the Freeform family drama series The Fosters between 2013 and 2018. She also made a guest star role in its spinoff, Good Trouble. Sherri Saum has starred and appeared in several films and television series, including Finding Home as Candace, In Treatment as Bess, Beggars and Choosers as Casey Lennox, Rescue Me as Natalie, and daytime soap operas like Sunset Beach as Vanessa Hart and One Life to Live as Keri Reynolds. She is married to her longtime boyfriend, Kamar de los Reyes. The pair have twin sons named Ruben and Michael Luís de los Reyes.
Sherri Saum was born October 1 1974, in Dayton, Ohio, to an African-American father and a German mother, Lois Saum. Her father was mostly absent while her German mother raised Sherri and her siblings, Lisa and Michael, single-handedly while also getting a degree and maintaining a day job. Lois worked as a copy editor at Dayton Daily News for most of her career. Sherri Saum and her siblings had to fend for themselves most of the time due to the absence of their father and their mother working overtime to put food on the table. It was, however, easier due to the care and affection from their extended family.
Sherri Saum grew up to be interested in fashion and glamour, while her sister, Lisa, inherited her scholarly disposition from their mother to become a political scientist. Sherri’s most prized possessions while growing up were her fashion magazines. She was passionate about the fashion industry, which led her to enter several teen pageantries and take up modelling assignments during her summer breaks. Sherri Saum was discovered in high school and started at a Model Search America convention close to her home in Kettering, Ohio. She moved to New York City to work with the NY modelling agency Images Management full-time. Regarding her education, Sherri Saum attended Ohio State University, Columbus and New York University, New York City.
